The Opal 2.0 ice maker makes great ice. Unfortunately it makes the loudest squeak/screeching. If you set it to make ice in the morning it will wake you up. I used the warranty and received a new unit, which is making the same noises. Two new units with the same loud noises can't be a coincidence. The second one will randomly turn off. I expect much better for $579.

I contacted GE immediately after receiving my Opal ice maker because the left panel had a dent in it. I was told I'd receive a box and that they were shipping my replacement. I never got either. At this point, they just need to ship me a replacement ASAP and/or give me 25% off. As far as operation, the machine is VERY loud

Despite the high price tag, this is not a well-built, dependable, reliable appliance. It's been 11 months since I purchased mine new. That lasted several months before it stopped working. Finally had Customer Support (On Point, not GE) authorize a refurbished replacement. I spend almost $700 for the icemaker and all they would provide was a refurbished unit - which just stopped working this week. Had to go through the Warranty Process again - the pictures, the troubleshooting, etc., etc. before a replacement was once again authorized. I have had less-expensive appliances in my home which have lasted 15-20 years and have never broken down. Twice in one year (so far) is not a good track record for something this expensive. From the sounds of these reviews, I am not alone in my troubles with this GE product.

This ice maker is the perfect size! It is easy to transport if you want to move it from indoors to your outdoor entertaining space. It has been a life saver for parties and get togethers we've hosted lately! Our family will get lots of use out of it this summer! The quality is excellent, the machine is well crafted and will hold up to everyday life.It is aesthetically pleasing and fits in with our decor. Overall I'm very impressed with this and so glad we have it! It's been such a welcome addition and we never need to worry about running out of ice. Makes the perfect sized cubes and doesn't take terribly long. So far it's done a great job at keeping up with our demand. Love that you can download the app and use that for it also! I'd absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a great quality well crafted ice machine! You will not be disappointed! Especially great for those who love to host get togethers or those who love this type of ice! Definitely can't go and buy this type of ice in the store.

Coming from a skeptic, I am thoroughly impressed by the GE Profile Ice Maker. Firstly, I've never been big on ice like I am now. Quite frankly, I am drinking more water now than I have ever drank in my entire life, all thanks to this ice from my GE Profile. I now fill a glass with ice and water constantly throughout the day and I'm loving it! The GE Profile is a bit bulky in weight but sits perfectly on the countertop right next to my refrigerator and looks absolutely stunning. By simply connecting a hose from one port to another, filling with some water and plugging into a power source, within about 15 minutes, I had perfect tiny nuggets of ice dropping into the bin. Which I can scoop out with an ice scooper that is included with the ice machine! The bin in which that holds the ice does take some time to fill of course and while doing so, the machine produces a loud 'humming' sound which will subside when the bin is full. A drip tray is also provided as when the bin is opened and ice is taken out, sometimes a few droplets of water will fall. The drip tray comes in handy for catching those droplets.

This machine has been on my want list for a long time. In terms of real ice, I couldn't ask for much more. I really like the ice that this product makes, it reminds me of the ice you get at your favorite restaurants. It provides my family with soft, chewable ice. I use it every day. Any kitchen, bar, or deck/pool area would benefit from the GE Profile Opal 2.0 Ice Maker. It was simple to set up. You may link it to the internet and program it to turn on and off at specific times. When running/making ice, the appliance is a little noisy. Overall, the ice it produces is excellent, and I am thoroughly enjoying my summer beverages. I highly recommend it!

I waited a few weeks after installing this ice maker to do my review because I wanted to make sure to try out all aspects of it. This is a great little ice maker. Who doesn't love the "good ice"?? Even though we have a built in ice maker in our fridge I decided to put it in my kitchen. It was very easy to install and the instructions were very easy to understand. I cleaned, filled the tank and turned it on and within an hour I had ice! It wasn't long at all before the bucket was full. It came with a scoop and drip tray which are very handy, especially the tray because the machine does drip when you open the bucket to get the ice out. The light inside is a very nice feature. I did have to fill it quite often so the optional side tank is a necessity in my opinion. I did have an issue getting the app to connect. I was never able to get on the app and see what that was all about but I did turn the machine off while we went on vacation and received a notification from the app 2 days after I turned it off. I thought that was odd. Other than that this is a great machine and I love having it!!

We love this ice maker! I have been warned by others to properly clean the hoses regularly and I haven't had any issues so far. It is very easy to drain and clean regularly. Size wise, it fits perfectly on my kitchen counter top next to the sink and under the overhead cabinets. It measures 16.5 tall x 10 wide x16.5 deep. It runs regularly but not constant. The ice that melts goes right back into the reservoir to turn into more ice. It's brilliant as no water just stands and the cooling motor isn't constantly running! The ice is also the perfect bite sized ice for those of you that love to chew ice. Everyone that comes over grabs a red solo cup and gets themselves a scoop of ice to chew on. Added bonus, the ice is small enough to put inside the opening of a 16 oz plastic water or pop bottle! Its wonderful! It takes about 3 hours to fill the canister up. The light looks great also. It looks so nice lit up in the evening. In summary, I do recommend this item. I even convinced my sister to purchase one for our niece who is all about the "perfect ice" and she loves hers too! 5 stars!

If you love nugget ice and want to have it everyday at your own home, you need the GE Profile™ Opal™ Nugget Ice Maker 2.0! It is made to sit on top of any counter, it's portable and there is no installation or water hook-ups required! You just clean it out, plug it in, fill the water reservoir and then in 20 minutes, you have ice! The ice bin is a good size as it holds 3 lbs. of ice. I have mine in my kitchen on a countertop, but I think it would be great in a covered outdoor kitchen or an awesome addition to an at home bar as well. My kids cannot get enough of this ice and it's so much easier to fill up their water bottles with this ice vs. the ice from your refrigerator ice maker. I cannot say enough good things about this ice maker, if you want to make the switch to nugget ice and you want a dependable brand, you cannot go wrong with the Opal™ Nugget Ice Maker 2.0 by GE Profile™.

Pros: 1. The ice maker works very well and it automatically senses when the ice quantity is less. 2. It makes a light humming sound when making nugget sized ice. 3. It's compact and it makes ice quickly. It makes about 3 pounds of ice. The ice is soft and chewable and it is fun for kids. 4. It is fairly easy to setup and the initial sanitation of the machine is not very complex and quick. 5. The machine is connected via GE cloud and can be accessed using a nicely designed app. 6. Extra features like scheduling is available in the app along with being able to turn on or off the machine and the light. Cons: 1. The machine doesn't hold the made ice. Eventually the ice melts and the machine begins to make ice even if the ice is not dispensed. So even if you don't dispense the ice, the machine continues to make ice and the cycle goes on. 2. The inbuilt tank capacity is limited and might need frequent refill depending on how much ice is dispensed.

The "good ice" at home!!

Wow!! And so cool to have this nugget "good ice" available in my home any time I want!! This GE Profile Opal Nugget Ice Maker 2.0 is awesome!! This machine is very sturdy and well made. The outside of the machine has a very sleek look. The initial set up can take a bit of time. You have to run through the cleaning cycle a few times, but that was sort of expected with machines of this nature. It came with a quick start guide and a manual that was easy to follow. Once we completed the cleaning and set up, we were ready to make some nugget ice! So the instructions say that it will begin making ice in 20 minutes. And that's correct. But once it starts making ice, it will probably take about an hour for you to get a full tray of nugget ice. It is a little difficult to fill the water reservoir. The reservoir sits under the ice tray and depending on what you are using to fill it, it can be challenging. I ended up using a measuring cup which was a little time consuming. Also it's kind of hard to see where the "water max" line is because the coloring of the writing is tone on tone at the back of the machine. I just used the flashlight on my phone to see it better. This product also comes with a drip tray and ice scoop. The drip tray is an absolute must. There are drips that come off the bottom of the ice drawer when you open it to scoop out ice. So unless you want water dripping on your floor or counter top every time you pull the ice tray out, I highly recommend putting the drip tray in place. Also the ice scoop...there's no where to put it really. I was surprised that on this machine there is no slot or specified area to store the ice scoop. I supposed you can leave it in the ice tray but then it can get buried under the ice and can be somewhat of an annoyance to get out. All in all, this a great ice machine for nugget ice and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the market for one.

In our house summer calls for everything with ice, water juices mocktails. This nugget maker is perfect for my medium size kitchen counter top and is very compact. It makes ice of perfect shape. Best part is it is very fast. The machine is very light weight as well which helps to move it easily for cleaning or just in case we decide to change its location. Another smart feature is it is wifi enabled. The other thing I observed is that ice from this nugget maker does-not melt easily which just makes it perfect. It has made summers more cool and tasty ! Overall, we really enjoy this ice maker. The soft ice was a bit smaller (about 1/2" long) than I anticipated but it's no big deal. As the directions state, it's true to the time and takes about an hour to fill the whole bucket with ice. The maker does a good job and keeps the made ice cool easily for a day at a time. If you leave the machine on it will continue to make ice as the ice in the unit melts. Overall the unit is quiet for it being an ice maker. The drawer is nice and a scoop is provided. Initial quick set up is easy and directions are clear. I would recommend using a smaller glass and not a 4 cup measuring cup to add water as pouring is difficult with something of that size. The only problem I had is when performing the cleaning cycle, the water in the bottom of the reservoir did not completely empty after the end of the cycle and I had to hand mop out about 1" of water. I placed the drain hose well below the base of the unit and there were no kinks in the line so I'll need to do some more research on this. I can see where cleaning regularly is necessary to keep the machine running well and the taste of ice good. Design is great.

A few years ago, I took my daughter to NYC and in our hotel was an ice dispenser that made this type of ice. I have been looking for one ever since. This is "the good ice", the legit, crunchy goodness, super refreshing awesome ice maker! Now for this particular unit, I will say that I highly recommend using a flashlight when assembling. There are water level lines in the base and the indicator lights/buttons are hard to read and they are not raised. We assembled this in our very well lit kitchen, but we couldn't have figured out those specifics without a flashlight at first. Once you know where everything is, you won't need the flashlight any more. This ice maker is a dream come true. My husband thought I was crazy getting this, as we have an ice maker in our fridge. Then I caught him bypassing the fridge for the good ice!

I really like this machine. It's extremely easy to use and it really makes a nice batch of ice for the family in very little time. The setup and cleaning instructions look intimidating but they're not...just follow along and you'll be done in no time (be sure to use both hoses to drain the tank...that's not entirely clear in the the instructions). Overall though, this thing is great. It's quiet, it's fast, it's easy, and it automatically makes more ice as you use it. We'll get a lot of use out of this year-round, and it's GREAT for entertaining or for a home bar!

At first I thought I could just use this to get ice quick. But now I realize this will be amazing to have around for parties for sodas and cocktails. My kids love getting ice from this for their water. It comes with a nice little scoop that they use that gives the perfect amount of ice. I personally drink ice coffee every morning and this gives me amazing fresh, clean ice for that. I like to chew on ice on hot days and this actually gives really good tasting ice and perfect size to chew on. My husband got this cleaned and set up quickly. It does take up a bit of counter space but that's expected really. It's a little weird that when it's on as soon as you take a scoop of ice it immediately starts making more. But I guess in the end it's nice because it gives you a full bucket. It's a little on the loud side but not too bad really. I do wish it had come with a water filter. It would be easier to fill than filling from my filtered fridge.

My family absolutely loves this type of ice so we were so excited to try this ice maker. We use it at our summer home because the ice maker can't keep up with as much as we use. It is heavy but jut fine because we keep it in the same place. You could take it with you other places though since it doesn't have to use a water line. It isn't real quiet but no difference than the ice maker we have at our summer house now. We just make sure it is full before we go to bed so we don't hear it at night. It was very easy to assemble. Overall a great product and perfect for our needs.

This ice maker is a dream come true! Living in Texas, cold drinks are a necessity and now we don't have to go get them from a fast food chain. We entertain in our home weekly and everyone raves about having the "good" ice. It makes every drink better and my kids just get bowls of it to crunch. The machine is nice looking and easy to set up and clean. It does make a humming noise constantly... but not loud or obnoxious. I especially love that it includes a plastic piece for setting the scooper and keeping the surface under it from getting wet. It holds the perfect amount of ice for less than 10 people and takes a while to replenish. I solve this by filling up freezer bags with extra if we are hosting a crowd.

I love this My Ge Profile Opal Nugget Ice Maker 2.0 it makes the most delicious Ice and it looks so good doing it. I used it for a dinner party and it made ice every twenty minutes as promised. The noise level is minimal while it's making ice and then it goes quiet ice making is done. The ice is nice chewable ice that makes your drinks look so elevated. I am so glad I have this beautiful addition to my home
